    Dog Food Recall: Fromm Canned Dog Food

    A recent recall alert has been issued for FROMM Canned Dog Food Recalled Due to Elevated Vitamin D Levels.


    What kind of food do you feed your furry friend? If so, check the list of recent recalls before reaching for your dog's dinner for him.

    Approximately 5,500 cases of Fromm Shredded can Entrée dog food are being voluntarily recalled.

    This is because of high levels of Vitamin D.

    There are four food products included in this dog food recall:


    • Four-Star SHREDDED BEEF IN GRAVY ENTRÉE food for dogs, 12 cans per case, 11877
      12 oz. per can

    • Four-Star SHREDDED CHICKEN IN GRAVY ENTRÉE food for dogs, 12 cans per case, 11881
      12 oz. per can
      UPC 7270511880
      Best By Date 082024

    • Four-Star SHREDDED PORK IN GRAVY ENTRÉE food for dogs, 12 cans per case, 11879
      12 oz. per can

    Where Was The Recalled Food Sold?


    Foods recalled by Fromm were sold at neighborhood pet stores across the country.

    There were no other products recalled by Fromm.



    Fromm Family Foods Voluntary Recall


    Through their own analysis, the company discovered that certain canned food products may contain elevated levels of Vitamin D. 

    In a statement from the company, officials said, “We have identified and isolated the error, and in addition to our existing safety process, we have put corrective actions in place.”

    Despite no reports of illness associated with this recall, pet owners should still stop feeding their animals the affected food immediately.



    The Problems With Elevated Vitamin D in Dogs


    The statement according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration:

    “Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D when consumed at very high levels can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction. Consumers who have dogs that have consumed any of the affected products and are exhibiting these symptoms should contact their veterinarian.”



    What To Do If Feed This Food Or Have Questions?


    It is strongly recommended that pet parents who have purchased one of these four cans of Fromm Canned Dog Food:

    Fromm Four-Star Shredded Entrée canned dog food recall stop feeding it immediately and return it to their retailer.
