Oatmeal and Beet Treats
You’ll make oatmeal and beet dog treats are made with a couple simple ingredients. These dog cookies are made with no added preservatives or chemicals. Talk about an all natural dog treats!

How to Make Oatmeal and Beet Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 mashed banana
- 1 beet, roasted or steamed
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Cup oats
- ¼ C plain yogurt
The key ingredients are simply Oatmeal, banana and cooked beets along with some yogurt and flour.
The hardest part about this recipe is peeling the skin from the beets. Much like a potato, beets will peel super easy, but also super messy.
It’s a good idea to grab a pair of baking gloves for this one, otherwise you’ll come away with red hands.
Of course, there’s no added preservatives, salt, sugar or chemicals… this dog biscuit recipe is simple.
About Oats for Dogs:
Oats are an excellent source of fiber, making it great for dogs with irregular bowel. Oatmeal is also safe for dogs with wheat allergies.
About Beets for Dogs:
Beets are a healthy source of vitamin C, fiber, folate, manganese, and potassium and are good for your dog’s digestion and immune system and a healthy skin and coat.
Directions:
Steaming the Beets
Begin by steaming the Beets in order to make peeling and slicing easier.
Add 2 inches of water into your pot and bring to a boil.
Add the beet(s) and place the basket in the steamer pot. Steam your beets until a rolling boil or until the beets are tender. This usually takes about 25 minutes.
Remove the pot from the stove and let cool.
How to Turn Oats into Flour
By using rolled oats and a blender or food processor, you can quickly turn rolled oats into flour.
By placing the oats into the blender until they form a thin flour like consistency, you can use it any recipe that calls for oats.
Putting the Treats all Together
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (Fahrenheit).
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, take the cooled beet and mash until smooth. You can also use a food processor to mash the beets.
Put quick oats into a blender or food processor and make into a flour consistency.
Mix beet, banana, and yogurt together.
Next fold in your flour and oats.
Form a dough ball. Then roll out your dough on a flat, floured surface.
Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
Place shapes onto cookie sheets.
Back at 350 degrees for 11- 14 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let them cool down for at least 30 minutes.
Store in airtight container, but first don't forget to share one or two with the dog.

Notes
Roll dough out on parchment paper for easier clean up.
Place parchment paper on cooling rack before placing cookies on the rack.
No need to add red food coloring, I experimented and there was no color difference by using Wilton coloring gel.
Wear gloves to work with this dough unless you don’t mind pink hands.

I would never give my dog beets, because beets are very high in oxalates, which can cause a lot of health problems. Beets are very hard on the kidneys and can cause stones.
