15 Minute Crafts: Popsicle Stick Love Bugs

Popsicle Love Bugs are for all the dogs that see a fly or a bug and eat it! So gross!

So in honor of all dogs that like to eat bugs, we made these fun Popsicle Stick Love Bugs for dogs everywhere!

We had so much fun making these Popsicle Stick Love Bugs to honor our dogs! They are super easy to make! The kids no longer had them in process before I could get the camera out to take photos.

Kids of all ages can have fun making this craft. We had both a 7-year-old and a 13-year-old make them and they all enjoyed them equally.

You can also try your hand at the DIY: Dog Signs or use some old jeans, cut them up to make a homemade dog rope.

Supplies Needed:

This craft uses supplies you may already have on hand.

You can buy popsicle sticks or simply buy some ice cream, let the kids lick it clean and use those popsicle sticks.

• Regular size popsicle sticks 
• Small popsicle sticks
• White paint
• Paint brush
• Red paint pen or marker
• Craft eyes
• Craft pom-poms
• Construction paper 
• Pipe cleaner 
• Hot glue 

How to Assemble the Popsicle Love Bug Sticks.

Evenly line up 7 regular size popsicle sticks. 

Using hot glue gun, run a line of hot glue the entire length of a small popsicle stick & press it horizontally onto one end of the 7 sticks - repeat this step on the other end as well .

Flip the newly made board over and coat with an even layer of white paint, let dry.

Glue the eyes in place.

Use paint pen or marker to draw on hairline, heart-shaped nose and mouth.

Use paint pen or marker to add hearts to body.

For the antennae, cut the pipe cleaner in half and attach from the back of the board - if desired, add craft poms to the end of each .

Using the construction paper, cut out 2 heart-shaped pieces for the wings and decorate as desired.

Attach the wings with glue from the back of the board.

Your Love Bug is now complete!
