Have you ever been to Ikea? I love walking through the Ikea in Seattle. I really wish some of their designers would come to my house.
The designs are ugly or super cool, wow great idea! If you’ve ever been to Ikea, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t been, you need to go!

Here are some of my favorites DIY Ikea Hacks for Dogs:
Decorative Dog Kennel Cover
If your crate training a dog, you inevitably have one of those plain wire crates with a metal bottom. Because dogs are also a part of our families, to the point we share meals with them, we enjoy having them in an area where we spend time.
This DIY Ikea hack for dogs uses the Ikea Tarendo Table in Black, a dog cage, magnets, and Roman vinyl privacy lattice that you can easily pick up at Home Depot or even Amazon.
Place the table over the dog crate, cute the lattice to match the length of the table legs and attach with magnets. The legs of the table are magnetic, so super easy!

DIY Ikea Hacks for Dogs Steps from Ikea Knagglig Boxes
Ruby, my Goldendoodle is a smaller dog so the last thing I want her doing is jumping up and down on the couch or bed.
I’d been researching doggie steps and good grief, they are so expensive!
I found these DIY Doggie Steps using Ikea Crates! Less than $40.00 to make! I’m on it!
Supplies:
- 3 x Knagglig Boxes
- 1 x Gurgli cushion covers
- Staple gun
- Strong wood/fabric glue
Directions:
- Cut the fabric into rectangles large enough to cover the base of the Knagglig box.
- Assemble the Knagglig boxes, but do not attach the base on 2 of the 3 boxes.
- With the remaining fabric wrap the left over bases with the flat side up.
- Glue the boxes into place on top of the boxes.
- Then glue the 2 steps together using the glue. Let sit overnight.

DIY Ikea Hacks for Dogs Ramp for Tall Beds
Do you have a tall bed? Ours is super tall.
I don’t like either Ruby or Callie jumping up and down on beds. I worry about their joints. Even though Callie is three times the size of Ruby, it’s still a tall jump up and down.
Like the steps, I started looking around for a ramp. Since the steps for the couch were to do it yourself, I figured there would be an Ikea hack for a doggie ramp. I was right!
It thrilled me to find how easy this ramp was to make.
Supplies:
- Prant box
- 2 Ekby Tryggve Shelf ( don’t you love all the Ikea names! )
- Hook and loop tape
- Hinges from Home Depot, Lowes or your local hardware store
- Goop glue
- Scissors ( heavy duty kind)
- 2 rugs
Here are the directions from life hackers.
