Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats Recipe and a Story
Once upon a time in a cozy little suburban home, there lived a Goldendoodle name Ruby who loved homemade dog treat day.
Ruby was a lovable goofball with a penchant for mischief and a never-ending appetite. I adored her and loved baking treats for my furry friends.
One sunny Saturday morning, I decided to experiment with a new homemade dog treat recipe. Armed with a mixing bowl and an assortment of dog-friendly ingredients, she got to work in her kitchen.
Little did I know that Ruby was watching my every move from the corner of the room, her tail wagging eagerly in anticipation.
As I was mixing together peanut butter, whole what flour and 1 egg, the sweet aroma filled the air, tantalizing Ruby's sensitive nose. Unable to resist, she inched closer and closer to the counter, her eyes fixated on the delightful concoction. I noticed her sneaking around and chuckled, "Oh Ruby, you can't wait for these treats, can you?"
As I was taking the dog treats out of the oven, I made the mistake of momentarily turning my back on Ruby. In that split second, the mischievous Goldendoodle saw an opportunity she couldn't ignore.
With her tongue hanging out in excitement, Ruby nudged the corner of the baking sheet and before she knew it, she was face-to-face with the tray of tantalizing treats.
Using her paw she swiped one treat off the tray onto the floor. As the treat landed with a soft thud, Ruby pounced on it like a lion on it's prey.
She chomped down the delicious morsel, savoring the flavors that exploded in her mouth. The treat was so tasty that she couldn't help but let out a little "yum" in dog noises.
Unbeknownst to Ruby, I had returned to the kitchen and caught her red-pawed in the act. I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of my mischievous pup enjoying the forbidden treat. "Ruby, you little rascal" I said, shaking my head in amusement.
But Ruby wasn't done yet. Emboldened by the success of her covert mission, she decided to go for another treat. And another.
Before I could intervene, she had eaten almost half of the freshly baked batch, which is why the photos show so few treats! Ruby's belly was full, but her eyes still shone with excitement and mischief.
Despite her sneaky snacking. Ruby didn't suffer any ill effects from the homemade dog treats. In fact, she seemed more energetic and mischievous than usual.
From today forward I have learned to keep a close eye on Ruby whenever I bake treats, knowing her love of good food was matched only by her ingenuity.
And so, the legend of Ruby Doodle Dog, my loveable Goldendoodle and the great homemade dog treat caper spread far and wide in our neighborhood, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who heard the story.
It's a tale that perfectly captures the loveable, quirky nature of Ruby, and it became the most cherished anecdotes I share for our amused friends.
Ingredients for Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Make these peanut butter dog treats with only 3 ingredients plus water!
Whole Wheat Flour - For most of my dog treats I use organic whole wheat flour.
Egg - 1 large size egg.
Peanut Butter - Always check the ingredient label. I prefer peanut butter that only has one ingredient, peanuts. Verify that your peanut butter doesn't have any xylitol.
Plus Water - I used about 1 cup of water.
