Ingredients
Certain ingredients in homemade dog treats can provide essential nutrients and promote a healthy gut, aiding in digestion and overall well-being.

- Pumpkin Seeds (ground up)
- Flax Seeds (ground up)
- Chia Seeds
- Peanut Butter (no Xylitol Peanut Butter)
- Brown Rice Flour
- Fish Oil - just 1 tablespoon

Instructions
For detailed instructions see the recipe below.
After grinding pumpkin, flax and chia seeds. Mix with pureed pumpkin and peanut butter.
Form into ball shape with your hands. Mix until firm and sticky.
Sprinkle surface with flour and roll out the dough.
Using any shape cookie cutters cut out shapes and place onto baking sheet.
Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
Hint: If you find the dough is too soft, add in a little more flour one tablespoon at a time while working the dough. Divide the dough into two balls.
Substitutions
You can use fish oil capsules by pinching a hole in one end and add to the dough.
Optional ingredients you can use as a substitutions:
- 1 teaspoon turmeric plus ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of dried oregano, rosemary, basil, peppermint or parsley. (Parsley helps to freshen a dogs breath.
- 1 tablespoon cod liver oil can be substituted for fish oil.

Homemade Dog Treats (Gluten-Free)
Gluten-free homemade dog treats are great for your dogs digestive system and easy to make with dog friendly ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup peanut butter (no xylitol or artificial sweeteners)
- 2 tablespoons ground pumpkin seeds
- ½ tablespoon ground flax seeds
- ½ tablespoon ground chia seeds
- 3 cups brown rice flour
- 1 tablespoon fish oil
Optional Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon turmeric plus ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano, rosemary, basil or parsley
- 1 tablespoon cod liver oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees (170 degrees Celsius)
- In a large bowl, whisk together pureed pumpkin, eggs, peanut butter, fish oil and any of the optional ingredients).
- Grind the pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and chia seeds with a blender or food processor. When ground, stir them into your wet mixture.
- Add your flour and mix the dough with your hands or a spoon until it's a firm, sticky dough. If your dough is too soft, work one tablespoon of additional flour at a time, while working the dough with your hands.
- Sprinkle your work surface lightly with flour. Split the dough into two balls.
- Roll out one ball of dough on your work surface with a rolling pin until approximately ¼ inch thick.
- Using your cookie cutters, cut out the dog cookie shapes and place them onto your baking rack.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until the biscuits are dry and firm (they will crisp as they cool).
- Allow to cool.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a month or freeze them for no longer than 6 months.
Notes
If your dough is too soft, add an additional tablespoon of flour at at time until firm.
