Whole Wheat Flour - Our recommendation is to use whole wheat flour since it is a healthier alternative to white flour.
Banana- a really ripe banana works great for this recipe.
Coconut Oil - Dogs can consume small amounts of coconut oil or apply it to their skin or fur with no complaints. Virgin coconut oil is best for selecting a brand, since most of coconut oil's benefits have been observed in this variety.
Beef Liver Sprinkles - To add irresistible flavor to your dog's homemade dog treats or even their own food, simply sprinkle it on top. Even pickiest of eaters cannot resist it. Putting your own seasoning on your food is just like that! Fur-friends of all breeds and ages will enjoy this beef liver treat.
🥣 Supplies Used:
- Pastry Mat
- Rolling Pin
- Pizza cutter
- Silicone mat
- Baking Sheet
📖 Dog Treat Notes:
Note: While these treats are baked to be hard (better for the dog’s teeth) they could be given without baking for a soft treat.
However, they will not keep as long unbaked.
🥘 Directions:
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, add your over ripe peeled banana, coconut oil and liver sprinkles to the food processer. Mix until well blended.
Step 2: Add flour and water and mix until fully blended.
Step 3: Using the rest of the flour dust on the counter or pastry mat, then dump the mixture onto it.
Step 4: With your hands, press the mixture into a ball.
Step 5: Use a rolling pin to flatten the ball until it is about as double-thick as a pie crust.
Step 6: Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into strips then cut across those strips to make small pieces. I did mine about ½ inch by ½ inch but you can cut to any size you want.
Step 7: Place pieces on a silicone mat on a baking sheet. Space them out so they are touching as little as you can.
- Note: I had to do 3 cookie sheets to bake all mine. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 400° degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
- If you cut your pieces smaller, they will take less time to bake so keep an eye on them and take them out when they are lightly golden.
Step 8: Remove from oven and allow to cool completely. Your dog training treats will last longer if you allow them to cool.
