Are Cheerios OK for Dog Treats?
Yes! It’s okay for your dog’s having Cheerios. Just in moderation. They should never eat Cheerios as a meal replacement or in large quantities.
For an occasional treat, your dog is perfectly safe.
Except with your dog have a grain sensitivity, Cheerios are perfectly safe. There are other recipes on the without Cheerios, like my Carrot and Sweet Potato Dog Treats, Pumpkin Blueberry Dog Treats, and even treats made with Beets.
Hint: When choosing Cheerios, stick with the plain Cheerios. I would not recommend using Honey Nut Cheerios.

Homemade Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Dog Treats Recipe
The most important thing to know about this recipe is to only use 100% natural creamy peanut butter that doesn’t contain Xylitol.

Dogs your dog love peanut butter? I haven’t found a dog yet that doesn’t love it. I’ve even let my dog eat creamy peanut butter off of a spoon!
I stock my pantry with multiple ‘healthy’ treats, but I need something that’s an easy “go to” and isn’t expensive for all the potty training and other obedience training we are doing.
If you are looking for an easy and healthy treat for your dog, then these peanut butter and Cheerios dog treats are for you. Well, for your dog anyway! They are ready under 20 minutes and will have your dog barking for more.
20 Minute Easy dog treats.
This wonderfully tasty recipe combines the crunchy oaty taste of Cheerios cereal with the healthy goodness of peanut butter and apple baby food.
It’s full of fatty acids, fiber and protein, even though your dog doesn’t care about that! My dogs, Ruby and Callie, love Cheerios!
Ingredients Used
- ¼ cup natural Peanut Butter
- 2 ½ cups Cheerios
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 T Honey
- 4 oz Apple Banana Strawberry baby food
- 1 Egg
Peanut Butter - You'll want to use a dog safe, peanuts, only peanut butter for any of your dog treat recipes.
Cheerios - It's best to use the plain Cheerios, not the Honey Nut Cheerios, which contain extra ingredients that your dog doesn't need.
Whole Wheat Flour - Most dogs, even those with allergies, can easily tolerate whole wheat flour.
Honey - When choosing honey for your dog treat recipes, it's best to stick with raw honey, local honey or Manuka honey. For this recipe were using raw honey.
Apple, Banana, and Strawberry baby food - I love the varieties of baby food. For this recipe you'll be using the Apple, Banana and Strawberry baby food. Baby food is safe for most dogs.
Egg - eggs are rich in protein and an excellent source of linoleum acid along with fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamin A. Eggs are wonderful for your dog's skin and coat and help to bind dog treat recipes together.
Instructions for Peanut Butter and Cheerio Dog Treats
You'll being this recipe by grabbing a microwavable bowl and melting the peanut butter for about 30 seconds.
Mix the remaining ingredients, Cheerios, flour, honey and baby food, all the ingredients together and mix well.
Form into a dough ball. Then roll balls to about a 1” size. Hint: You’ll have to squeeze them together tightly to make them stick together.
Place on cookie sheet with parchment paper. Bake approximately 9 minutes at 350° degrees.
Allow too cool and dry out a little and then store in an airtight container.
Tips & Tricks
Make sure you mix well. I had more cheerios at the top and more dough at the bottom.

You'll have to put the dogs away while making these treats - they smell and taste so good, you're dog's won't be able to wait!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup natural Peanut Butter
- 2 ½ cups Cheerios

- 1 T Honey
- 4 oz Apple banana Strawberry baby food
- 1 Egg
Instructions

Pure canned pumpkin is a great ingredient to use in fur-baby cookies. Leftovers freeze well. Just don’t mistakenly get the pumpkin pie filling.
Pumpkin is also very good for diarrhea too. Just a spoonful to start.
